Diary entry

Accepting love won’t kill you. Not having enough of it won’t kill you either. Stop demanding so much of it that you make yourself sick and then trying to recover by starving yourself. People are here for you. You don’t need to hold them hostage and you don’t need to push them away. It is okay that people make new friends and form new relationships and develop chemistry with other people- it doesn’t mean you aren’t good enough or that you failed them. You love many people and when others do the same, it doesn’t mean they have less love for you. Feeling lonely is not the same thing as being alone.
People think you’re pretty. You’re sick and twisted and guys dig that. Your boyfriend can’t get enough of you. The amount of people who want to sleep with you doesn’t define your worth… but… people do want to sleep with you. You don’t get hit on as much as you used to because you don’t feel as good about yourself and you’re hiding- not because you stopped being worthwhile. Also, when you’re out it’s usually with your friends.
People want to know you. You’re smart. You’re hilarious. You have a way of communicating with people that makes them root for you. You can write. When you decide to talk, you’re fun to be around. People want to be your friend and they SHOULD want to, because you’re awesome. You listen. You help when you can. You wear your heart on your sleeve, and while people have convinced you that this is a weakness, you have proven that it can also be a strength. You are relatable. You are, to quote an ex, “wonderfully and perfectly complicated.”
Stop stressing about your dumb job. You’ve had  2 pay increases in 2 years. You make more money than one of your bosses. Customers bring you presents. Your boss likes you and your coworkers like you. Just because you get overwhelmed or mess up, it doesn’t mean you’re getting fired. Everyone but you thinks you’re doing fine. Maybe give yourself some credit for never being late or calling in sick.
You have come a long way. You still have flaws, but people admire your willingness to look at yourself and make changes. Stop getting upset that you haven’t changed more or fixed more or healed fast enough, because you’ve done a whole fucking lot to improve your life and the person you are.
Put the bat down. Beating yourself over the head with it won’t make you tougher. Maybe take a breath and cut yourself some goddamn slack.
